MARTIN G. UNGER, M.D., F.R.C.S.(C)

Dr. Unger is world renowned as an originator of the PATE scalp reduction procedure and for his techniques of Hair Transplantation. He has also had a special interest in Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and was involved with this treatment for wound (skin) and bone healing even as a surgical resident. He is considered a major authority in this field, and most recently lectured on this subject with regard to hair restoration at both the Tenth Annual meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery in Chicago in October 2002, and the Eighteenth Annual meeting of The Academy of Cosmetic Surgery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in February 2002. He now serves as Medical Director of Lexington International, LLC a world leader in the field of Low Level Laser Therapy for hair restoration. FDA Clinical Trials for their HairMax LaserComb were initiated in April 2002.

Dr. Unger is the only Canadian to sit on the Board of Trustees of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) and to serve as Guest Editor for the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery. He has served as an Examiner for the ABCS for over a decade, and was elected as the first President of The American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery by his peers. In addition, he is an Editorial Advisor to several cosmetic surgery journals and has authored numerous chapters and medical papers. He has also been invited to deliver scientific papers at medical meetings throughout the world for more than 25 years. Dr. Unger is a Founding Member, Diplomate (certified specialist), and Examiner for the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. Dr. Unger is an Inspector/Assessor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the medical licensing body for the Province of Ontario, and a teaching faculty member of the University of Toronto. He is Chief of Plastic Surgery at One Medical Place Hospital in Toronto Canada. Dr. Martin Unger has served as a Medical Consultant for both Health Canada and the FDA, as well as Revlon and Faberge in the field of Cosmetics. He has also been a Clinical Investigator for Astra Pharma.
